About the event
Portugal's turn to party!
After storming the Croatian coastline at last year's H.O.G
Rally, Harley-Davidson is once again gearing up for another seaside
spectacular. With sun-soaked memories of the Adriatic fading fast, the
event is now heading to the Atlantic to its new home for 2012 – it's
Portugal's turn to party!
Last year's show was in a location so stunning that
finding a worthy follow-up was always going to be a challenge but
Harley-Davidson has come up trumps once again. From June 14-17, Cascais
will be play host to the European H.O.G. Rally 2012.
Known as ‘the land of kings and fishermen’, historical
Cascais gained its fame as a royal resort at the turn of the last
century. These days you're more likely to bump into cosmopolitan crowds
from Lisbon escaping the city but this June royalty will be welcomed
back as Road Kings rumble into town.
Just 30km west of Lisbon, Cascais is a picture-perfect
coastal town. Surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful countryside the
town itself is a maze of cobbled streets that lead you down to its
harbour and beachfront. It's here that this year's event will come alive
as Harley-Davidson takes over with live music on two stages,
hospitality bars, demo rides and a village for Harley-Davidson dealers.
Beyond the event site, Cascais is packed with restaurants
and bars and many boutique and budget hotels line the periphery with
short walking distances to the heart of the action.
This year's Custom Bike Show will take place in nearby
Estoril, by the beachfront in the plaza of Europe’s biggest casino.
Bring along your beautiful customised creations for a chance to win some
fabulous prizes, including a trip to Sturgis for the Best Modified
Harley!
Estoril is also home to one of Portugal's premier
racetracks, just 2km from the centre of Cascais – keep an eye on the
website for news of Estoril’s involvement in the event.
If you plan to explore the region, head out of town and
you'll soon be in the centre of Lisbon, taking in the winding streets,
cafe culture and grand architecture. Take to the roads north of Cascais
and you'll ride through rugged landscapes, discovering rocky coves,
white sandy beaches, lost roman ruins and timeless villages as you go.
This is classic Portugal and it's all there for the finding.
